Q: I can't see the whole animation.
A:

Before you log in, close the toolbars at the top of your browser (Netscape or Explorer). This will give you more screen space. If you have a 15-inch monitor, you may have to scroll both horizontally and vertically to see all of the text or animation.
Q: I can't get past the login screen.
A:

The 'Screen Names' and 'Passwords' are case sensitive. You need to check that characters such as an underscore '_' are typed in just as they appear. Also check if your 'Caps Lock' key is on, this could be giving you the wrong characters. Also, don't forget you may have changed your password if this is the second time you logged in. If you forgot your password, you can check your new password by asking your teacher to look at the 'Student Info' page described on page 49 of the teacher's manual.
Q: I am having problems moving through the chapters.
A:

Make sure that the browser tool bar has been closed before you log in. Trying to use the navigation buttons on the browser tool bar will cause problems with the program. YOU MUST USE THE NAVIGATION BUTTONS ON THE HEALTH QUEST PAGES. If you didn't close your browser tool bars, log off of the Cyber Schoolhouse, and exit from the browser. Start up the browser, close your tool bars, and log back onto the Cyber Schoolhouse. If this does not solve the problem, log off of the Cyber Schoolhouse, exit your browser, and shut down the computer. Restart your computer, activate your browser, and log back onto the Cyber Schoolhouse. If there is still a problem, then it is time to start call the teacher and discuss connections, hardware, and/or system software problems.
Q: I don't think I am seeing all the animations and images.
A:

Ask your teacher to check if all the plugins have been loaded and installed into your computer. All the plugins needed are listed on the teacher's notes page as described in the Teacher's manual.
Q: While in Chapter 2 'At the Health Fair' I clicked on 'Rosalind Roberts' and got a message telling me to install a plug-in.
A:

If the Rosalind Roberts interview does not appear, then you are missing the Quicktime browser plug-in, or the plug-in has not been properly installed. Ask your teacher to look at page 37 of your manual to remedy this problem.

Q: Can I go back to an earlier chapter or page in a chapter?
A:

No you cannot do this. The story is designed as chapters that follow one another. If you want to look at previous chapter, you can ask your teacher for the review sheet.
Q: When I enter Chapter 6 'Effects of Lead on the Body', I am asked to install an extra plugin for Shockwave. What should I do?
A:

Go ahead and install the plugin. It will only take a few seconds, and you'll be ready to play the animation.
Q: What are the VCR buttons all about at the bottom of the Lead effects on bone animation?
A:

The buttons are there to let you pause, reverse, fast forward and fast reverse the animation. However many of the animations are smaller animations linked together. You will only be able to fast forward or reverse to the beginning or end of a segment not the whole animation. If you are patient and just watch the animation it will play entirely by itself. Use the control buttons only as needed.
Q: Can I just click the 'Continue' button at the bottom of the page to move on when an animation is playing?
A:

DON'T DO THIS!!!!!! You will miss the whole animation and all the information that it shows you. You will need this information to pass the quiz at the end of the chapter.
Q: I've gotten through all the chapters without a problem, but when I go to Chapter 8 'The Standard Curve' I get an error message that says an animated gif file is missing. What do I do?
A:

Ask your teacher to come to the computer and log on as a teacher. He/she must then go in as a teacher to chapter 6 'Effects of Lead on the Body'. He/she will get a prompt to install a Shockwave plugin. He/she should hit the install button, and then log off. You should now be ready to log in and see all of Chapter 8.
Q: What is with the little alien games?
A:

The developers of the web site thought the alien games would make going through the site more fun. We know it can be boring to sit and wait while a file is downloading! The games are running while very large animation files are loading in the background. So relax and have some fun.
Q: What do I do with the flashing VCR type buttons at the bottom of the Chapter 8 and Chapter 9 animations?
A:

Lesson 8 and lesson 9 have linked segments in one animation. The first thing to remember is to keep the mouse arrow away from the buttons unless they are flashing. The right arrow ('Play' button) will flash red at the bottom of the screen at the beginning of the animation and when the next segment of the animation needs to be loaded. Hit the play button once and watch the bottom of your screen until it reads 'document done'. Now hit the play button again and the next segment of the animation will run. This will happen several times in Chapter 8 and 9.

Q: While going through chapter 8, the program stopped when I was pouring out the test tubes. What should I do?
A:

Sorry, but just as dropping a test tube can ruin an experiment in the laboratory! It can also cause this program to 'hang'. Be sure to finish dragging the test tubes all the way to the beaker and pour them out. Do not drop the test tubes! Unfortunately if you have already done this you need to log off and start all over again with this chapter.
Q: I finished a chapter and completed the test, but I was forced back to the beginning of the same chapter the next day when I logged on. Why?
A:

The Health Quest keeps track of which chapters you have successfully completed. However the program can only do this if you have logged off properly. Make sure that you complete the quiz for the chapter you have finished. Once you have a score of 100%, enter the next chapter. Now you must hit the log off button. The Health quest will update your personal database and put you where you belong the next time you log in.
